Earthlodge

This past weekend Chris and I decided to hike up to Earthlodge. I had been there before but never hiked up. The views were amazing! We made it just in time for a late lunch and some relaxing.  We will definitely be going back as they have live music there on Sundays. I wanted to share a few photos from a lovely Saturday here in Guatemala.

Uxibal

Hi Friends!

I wanted to share this amazing project with you. Uxibal is an organization that my friend, Britini,  founded to support Mayan women and create unique products. I was able to help her out with a photo shoot for the boots that I bought...check it out here Uxibal-Street Style

Hopefully, you'll love the products as much as I do and support a great project by buying some awesome boots or beautiful accessories.  xoxo

Read: David Brooks

I am currently loving the writing style of David Brooks. He is a New York Times contributing author that has written many books about American society. His books provide a very interesting view of our lives and what drives us.  I read Bobos in Paradise last year, am currently reading On Paradise Drive, and will pick up The Social Animal when we go to NYC next week! Can't wait! Hope you'll check out some of his work.

A bit of August

We visited San Lucas Toliman with the NYU Fellows that were down this summer.

Hotel Toliman in San Lucas at Lake Atitlan

Zoola in San Pedro la Laguna.

We got to spend a few days in August catching up with Dave, a friend from PC, who was down in Guatemala doing research for his graduate thesis.

NYU Fellows, Greta, Ayumi, and Allison that visited this summer to help Chris with research for the healthcare project. We had a fun night with them at the lake after a long summer of work!

Picking out flowers on the way back from the lake.

I tagged along on a business trip to NYC and got to see Annalisa!

She took me to The Little Owl in the West Village! best. place. ever.

Getting ready to meet Elle at The Mulberry Project.

Pijama Party and Marshmellow roasting at Brillo de Sol School where I volunteer.

July Update

July has been a crazy and wonderful month of travel and celebration. We had a 4th of July party at our house in Guatemala complete with a scary/fun fireworks show!  I was super excited to try out some of these Guatemalan fireworks that we are always listening to for various Catholic holidays around town. So we got a box and went crazy. Chris set them off from the roof while the party gatherers watched from the yard. A few tipped over and started firing into the crowd. It was one of those awkward scary but funny after the fact moments. By far the best party and fireworks show I've seen in a long time!

Me with my wine shop co-worker Danilo

The day after our party we left for a USA tour. Dallas->San Antonio->Houston->NYC->New Haven->Worcester->Boston->And Back!

First stop, Dallas. Hugs from Nancy Barry and great Mexican food!
Then to San Antonio for a visit to the Alamo!
We got to spend some time catching up with family.
And attend CC's Bingo Birthday Party!

Then we flew to NYC to catch up with friends.
